MRT IT Peaks Limited Team Wins Inaugural APCA Radical Innovations Challenge
MRT IT Peaks Limited is proud to celebrate the achievement of the team behind mPallCare, which won the inaugural African Palliative Care Association (APCA) Radical Innovations Challenge in 2025.
The recognition highlights the potential of technology developed in Africa to address practical challenges in healthcare and strengthen the delivery of palliative care.
Recognising Innovation in Palliative Care
The APCA Radical Innovations Challenge brought together innovators working to develop new approaches to palliative care and bereavement support across Africa.
The initiative provided a platform for teams from different professional backgrounds to present ideas aimed at addressing challenges affecting people living with serious and life-limiting illnesses and their families.
The competition culminated in presentations by finalist teams during the African Palliative Care Conference in Gaborone, Botswana, in September 2025.
The Team Behind mPallCare
The first-place award was presented to Nabunje Diana Lubega, a software engineer and project manager at MRT IT Peaks Limited, for her team's work on mPallCare.
Her colleague Njuki Patrick Kitenda represented her at the event and received the award and prize on behalf of the team.
For MRT IT Peaks Limited, the achievement represents the collaborative effort involved in translating a real healthcare challenge into a practical digital solution.

mPallCare is a digital health platform developed to support palliative care.
