MRT IT Peaks Team to Facilitate Canadian Hospice Palliative Care Learning Institute
MRT IT Peaks Limited is pleased to announce that team members Diana Nabunje and Ivan Rukundo will facilitate an upcoming Canadian Hospice Palliative Care Association (CHPCA) Learning Institute session focused on digital technology in palliative care.
The session, titled “Implementing Digital Symptom Monitoring and Clinical Decision Support in Palliative Care: Practical Lessons from Low-Resource and Remote Settings,” is scheduled for 28 September 2026 and will be delivered online as part of the CHPCA Learning Institute programme.
Sharing Practical Experience from Uganda
The session will explore practical approaches to implementing digital tools that support symptom monitoring, care coordination and clinical decision-making in palliative care.
The programme is specifically focused on lessons from low-resource and remote settings, drawing on experience from digital palliative-care innovation in Uganda.
For MRT IT Peaks, the session provides an opportunity to share experience gained through our work in digital health and the development of technology designed to support palliative care.
Digital Symptom Monitoring and Clinical Decision Support
Digital symptom monitoring can help care teams receive information about patients' changing symptoms and concerns, creating opportunities for more timely review and response.
The CHPCA session will examine how digital approaches can be integrated into clinical workflows while considering practical challenges such as connectivity, digital literacy and the realities of providing care in underserved and remote communities.
The session will also consider how information generated through digital tools can support clinical decision-making and strengthen coordination between patients, caregivers and healthcare teams.

The session will be facilitated by two members of the MRT IT Peaks team:
Diana Nabunje
Diana has been involved in the development of digital palliative-care solutions, including mPallCare, and has previously represented MRT IT Peaks in international discussions around digital health innovation.
Ivan Rukundo
Ivan is part of the MRT IT Peaks team working on digital health innovation and the development of technology to support palliative-care services.
